Vampires are some of the most prominent monsters of Durk. They are undead, blood sucking creatures with many powers and weaknesses. Vampires were some of the first creatures Durk ever made: though the exact date isn’t known, they started showing up around the age of beasts.
Origin
Vampires are created when a creature is bitten by a vampire bat. The bat removes the soul of the animal (leaving the body dead temporarily) and drags it to Durk’s Chamber where they are met by Durk himself. Durk takes the soul and covers it in black oil before returning it to the bat. The bat then brings the soul back to the body, making it rise from the dead.
Appearance
Vampires have extremely pale skin, red pupils, and long fangs. Their teeth are made of iron, making them extra durable. Many vampires wear dark clothing such as button-up shirts and hats.
Behavior
Vampires are known for being quit hostile. The reason for this is because they need to drink blood to survive. Though they can drink the blood of other creatures, it’s more nutritious for a vampire to drink the blood of the species they were once apart of. Normal food makes vampires very sick, though they can still drink liquors if it’s mixed with blood or if it’s drank though someones blood-stream. Though many are monstrous, some vampires such as Velvetta Cleatus are very tame and act pretty normal despite their odd diet.
Lifespan and Reproduction
Vampires don’t die of old age. They can live forever as long as they aren’t killed by an external source. Vampires also can’t breed naturally, instead, they would need to go into their vampire bat form to create a new vampire.
Powers and Weaknesses
Powers:
-Eternal Life: Vampires can’t age.
-Bat Form: Vampires can turn into bats.
-Heightened Senses: Vampires’ heightened senses make them well equipped for hunting their prey.
Weaknesses:
-Sunlight: Vampires can’t stand in direct sunlight because the oil covering their soul will combust and set the vampire ablaze.
-Garlic: Vampires have a strange, deathly allergy to garlic (see the myth of Gwana and the Dinner Party for more information).
-Sickles: Sickles have been used by vampire hunters for years, though it isn’t really known why they’re so effective.

Vampire Bats
Vampire bats are vampires in bat form. It’s a common misconception that a vampire bite causes vamperism, but it’s actually the bite of a vampire bat that does that. Vampire’s also don’t burn in sunlight when in bat form, instead, they just feel drowsy. Very rarely, a vampires can turn into a bat and forget that they are a vampire, leaving them in bat form forever (or until they remember).
Other Forms
There are two other types of vampires: transvamps and grand vampires.
Transvamps are vampires that prove they are good people to Augustus, and in return, he takes away their weaknesses while leaving their vampiric powers.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, grand vampires are when the most evil and skilled vampires are given new abilities by Durk as a reward. This also makes their appearance more monstrous.
