Creation Myth

Spiraling Infinite Nothing

Before time, before space, before life and death, and before the cycles they make up, there was nothing: spiraling, infinite nothing (The Spiral). It coiled with complete chaos. It wasn’t living and it had no motive, yet somehow, in some impossible way that none of us will ever understand, the spiral coiled itself into a loop containing space, time, life, death, and their cycles. Gnomes call the loop “Worjorp“, but others might call it “the universe”.

The Beginning of Time

At the beginning of time, Worjorp was mostly empty. The Void, infinity wide and tall, was dark and cold. The Void Ocean, drowning the Void’s floor, remained still and unrippled. The Underworld, closed and cavernous beneath the Void, was yet unconcerned with the rest of Worjorp. The Great Pine, giant and alive, stretched tall into Wydamor (the high regions of the Void), and it’s roots dug down into the Underworld. Sleeping near the trunk was Augustus.

Awakening of Augustus

Auggie woke up, finding himself cold and wet. Luckily, the dark didn’t bother him much, as his cat eyes allowed sight without light. He then used his sharp claws to chop down the pine. A needed sacrifice, but where there is death, there is new life. Not wanting to be wasteful, Augustus collected every part of the tree: the wood, the branches, the needles, and the seeds, all held in bundles made from tree fiber. He even collected the soul, which he contained inside of an odd rock he found (The Kolrok). Remaining was a stump where Augustus lit a fire (The Great Stump). The fire grew hot and bright, warming and lighting the Void. The embers flew high into Wydamor, becoming the stars. Then, in what might be a remnant of the Spiral’s chaos, the stars randomly rearranged themself into constellations. Not wanting his paws to get wet, Auggie rose stepping stones to walk on. Then, from the Great Pine’s wood, he constructed a large cabin (The Cabin) with many rooms, a fireplace (made with rocks from the ocean floor), and a basement. In the basement, he stored his bundles and the Kolrok. Augustus then settled down for a while, but he soon became lonely.

The Elder Gods and the Voidka Hall

Then Augustus built a hall (The Voidka Hall) where he and all twelve Elder Gods would drink and party. The one by the name of Eugene would brew a liquor out of waters from the Void Ocean called voidka, which is what they would drink at the hall. One god named Amir created two lords named Otlys and Satyr, while another god named Kronder created three of his own named Durk, Tarus, and Grim. (Those five lords are now called the Elder Lords)

Kronder

All was well for a long time until Kronder was told about Frkunlag (the gnomish concept of corrupting power) by a serpent named Archie. Kronder discovered what having power over others felt like, and he wanted more. Using his natural charisma, he convinced five of the twelve Elder Gods, along with his three lords to stand behind him. Then they formed a plan to take over the universe. Kronder promised to his eight supporters that their plan would grant each of them great power: higher than all the other deities.

Kronder

Amir’s Assassination

One time at the Voidka Hall, Kronder got extremely drunk, and in his drunken state he accidentally told Amir about the plan. When he realized what he had done, Kronder decided that Amir needed to die. So Kronder got to work in his Forge (Kronder’s Forge) creating nine daggers (The Frkunlag Daggers). They were terribly sharp and they would shrink or grow to the size of the wielder’s palm. He needed to find a way to get Amir away from the cabin, so he went to Satyr. He lied to them, claiming there was a surprise party for Amir in Wydklan. He then instructed Satyr to take Amir to the party. Satyr agreed, but before they could leave, Kronder warned them not to give away any details, as it would ruin the surprise. When the fake party was supposed to occur, Satyr personally took Amir to where Kronder and his crew were waiting. The five Elder Gods were instructed to stab Amir multiple times until death, and they did upon his arrival. The three lords were instructed to do the same to Satyr, however, one lord, Durk, became frightened and didn’t show up. This led to Satyr only being stabbed* in the shoulder before they made their escape.

*Satyr was stabbed by Tarus.

Chains and Anvils

Luckily, Satyr was able to quickly alert the other gods of the attack. Augustus soon tracked down and captured Kronder’s gang before confiscating their eight daggers*. He then ordered the god Kyle to forge an indestructible chain (The Golden Chain), which he would shackle the attackers with. When the chain was completed, Augustus tied an anvil to one end and the evil-doers to the other. Then he dropped them into the Void Ocean, and that’s where they still reside to this day (The Graveyard of Elders). Tarus (one of Kronder’s Lords) cried when he was chained, but they weren’t tears of sadness, they were tears of anger. From his tears spawned the first demons: evil minions of Kronder.

*Durk had the ninth dagger as of this myth.

Earth

The body of Amir laid still floating on the Void Ocean. As a memorial, Augustus gathered millions of stars and formed a ring around the body, creating the Milky Way. Then he created god grubs: large, purple, maggot-like creatures meant to eat the body away. However, when they were let loose, they burrowed into the corpse and morphed into ancient gnomes (some scholars believe this happened because the god grubs ate the flesh of a god). When Augustus found the gnomes calling Amir’s body home, he decided to protect their world at all costs. He started by creating a new race of gods. First was Dwaller (see the Myth of Dwaller for more information) who ruled over the sun and moon. Then there was Meso who raised the land, then Jordey who flooded the oceans. Zephyr created the wind and air, and Joey laid atop the mountains drooling, carving the first river-beds. Lamar controlled the storms, Winter ruled over the cold seasons, and Piper ruled over the warm seasons. Zombie created the plants and Max created all the creatures. Theodor brought decay to the dead, while Ekko brought dreams to the slumbering. Deacon ruled over conflict such as war, while Gibbon ruled over loyalty. Lastly, there was Taffy, who ruled over the home and the hearth. Then, Amir’s body became the Earth.
